Dan Bongino is a former Secret Service agent who left the Service in 2011 to campaign for a seat in the Senate in the liberal state of Maryland. Bongino won the Republican primary but lost to Ben Cardin in the general election. He then launched a campaign in 2014 for the U.S. House of Representatives in Maryland’s heavily gerrymandered 6th district. He lost to incumbent John Delaney by only 2774 (49.7% to 48.2%) votes in one of the last elections called that night.
Bongino has since moved to Florida where he is said to be considering a run for the Senate for the seat currently held by Marco Rubio. Rubio, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, could not run for election in the U.S. Senate per Florida law.
Bongino now writes and podcasts for Conservative Review. One of the subjects Mr. Bongino likes to cover is economics, and particularly emphasizes on educating those that are attracted to Bernie Sanders and what he calls Democratic-Socialism.
Robert Reich, an economist in favor of Bernie Sanders’ economic policies, issued a video addressing skeptics of the self-proclaimed socialist. Dan Bongino responded in kind with the following:
Perhaps one of the most notable things in the video is the fact that Reich actually appears to be proud of how Bernie Sanders would trample the Constitution, the powers of Congress, and the rule of law.
Bongino also points out an interesting tactic that liberals love to use when debating their positions. “Starting the story in the middle,” a phrase that economist Thomas Sowell popularized, can be seen in Reich’s failure to mention how college tuition costs became so high in the first place.
In addition, Sanders’ plan for single-payer healthcare will not cost less than our current system, but more. Even liberals admit to this fact. Predictably, Reich also fails to mention how medical insurance and medical care became so costly in the first place by again starting the story in the middle.
